As of this moment you can only have 50 but in this months update they are increasing it to... wait for it... 100!!!!!!!!
If it still shows 50 do a manual update at the play store (I don't know where you go on ipods)

No way to increase card box size unfortunately 
..
But with the new update both Android and iOS device have 100 card slots now.
iOS shows it as /50 but it really is /100.
